Artist Bio

My work explores humor in portraiture, the human figure and written/spoken word as it relates to memory.

I employ photographs and sketchbook drawings of friends, family, and figures in popular culture as subject of my work and amplify these figures through the use of vibrant color, the simplification of shape and form, the creation of texture, and implications of written word elements.

My work is also inspired by my love for collecting physical media such as LPs, DVDs, posters, and more. This passion has intuitively worked it way into the quick doodles that I utilize in final works as I think about objects in my collection as a way of looking at history - not only how and why the work was conceived but as a documentation of the thematic and aesthetic elements of the periods of time that I enjoy and can relate to.
